Richard Bawden (b.1936)

Richard Bawden was born in 1936 and is the son of the artist Edward Bawden and is a painter and printmaker, as well as a designer.  His work is held in many public collections, including the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Tate Gallery and the Ashmolean.  He follows in the figurative tradition of artists such as Samuel Palmer, the Nash brothers and explores the landscape of East Anglia from where he lives in Hadleigh, in Suffolk.  His work shows a preoccupation with texture, colour and pattern and often focuses on domestic themes, always quirky and often from an interesting perspective
